LONDON TRAVEL GUIDE / SHOREDITCH SERIES

Last month I’ve been to London and again I really enjoyed the city and Im thinking staying for a longer period of time.

I really enjoy the London vibes, it’s always a surprising city with many different people and cultures, every street you take, every place you go you can find absolutely everything you were not expecting.

This time I stayed in the famous Shoreditch district. A very lively and artsy place, a place occupied by young people so there’s lots of creatives there and there’s always so much going on.

Here’s my few tips and places to eat, shop, visit that I can advise you to go in Shoreditch and in London more generally.

One of the reasons we decided to stay in Shoreditch was that it is located in East London near to the Muslim neighborhood and just a few streets next to the East London Mosque and I really wanted to discover more the muslim community through the British society. I was really delighted to see so much going on in and for the muslim community. I visited again the London East mosque and the Muslim center and the way muslim people help each other and build up organizations and events to make their life better really impressed me.

Concerning Shoreditch we visited the whole district and it’s incredibly artsy and creative there. People move, make noise, draw, do music it’s really vibrating. On Shoreditch high street you can find many different independent shops with cute and independent brands as well as on Bethnal Green with the famous Box Park.

If you decide to make a stop in the area make sure to also go through Rivington Street a really lovely street where you can take instagrammable pictures and go to many cute shops as well.

I went to several coffee shops around there but unfortunately I can’t remember the names I didn’t even think about taking pictures. I remember the one called The attendant Coffee their flat White was particularly good.

WHERE TO EAT :

For halal friendly places I highly recommend to eat around east London because it is the place where almost all restaurants are halal. You can eat, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Turkish, American, Syrian alla of these different types of food in one single area.

We tried some Indian food in several places around Whitechapel and we particularly enjoyed the ones on the street of the Market of Whitechapel.

As for outside East London, and for halal food just to let you know that many subways are halal and the Nandoos as well so you can easily find places to eat meat even outside the district.

We ate once at « Tortillas » in the Westfield Mall at shepherd Bush, it’s basically a place where you can create your own tortillas and the chicken was halal. Very delightful too.

WHERE TO STAY :

For places to stay I highly recommend to stay as closer as possible to Central London if you want to visit London as a proper tourist. Because as you may all know transports in London is quite expensive ( except for the bus which you can take for £1.50 ) so you better stay in a place near to the areas you want to visit. Otherwise there are many other areas to visit and stay in and around London. As I said East London was really great we found a location on booking.com between Shoreditch and Brick Lane. It was a lovely place with a kitchen and 2 rooms.

GROCERIES :

  • If you have groceries to do, just make sure to have an Asda or a Tesco nearby.

  • For the make up and beauty stuff : Superdrug and Boots are places where you can shop affordable make up and beauty brands.

THINGS TO DO :

  • Covent Garden & The Apple Market, where you can also shop at The Ordinary
